Psychic visions, visits from ghosts and telepathic connections. Must be time for date two.

For Lauren, there’s nothing particularly scary about seeing ghosts or experiencing psychic flashes. After all, this is the world she knows. Still, none of that prepares her for suddenly connecting with the mind of Vicky Stearns, a girl she's never seen before. Lauren has no idea what caused the connection to happen or why, of all the people in the world, she received this psychic distress call. Her confusion soon turns to fear when she learns that the girl went missing earlier that same day.

There’s only one person Lauren can think of with abilities keen enough to help her navigate the visions gripping her. Jack, the boy whose own psychic awakening drew them on a journey across the country together last summer. But Lauren hasn't seen Jack in nearly a year. She also gave him every possible signal that it was over between them, hoping he'd be better off without her in his new life. When Lauren sets out to unravel the mystery, she knows only two things This will be her last chance with Jack and her only chance to save Vicky Stearns.

Lauren and Jack are back together once again!

Lauren and Jack have separated folliwing their epic road trip a year earlier. He's living with Jessica in Seattle and she's waiting tables in Portland. When Lauren gets a very strong image from a kidnapped five-year-old girl in California, Lauren has to get Jack back in order to follow the leads as only they can do... together.

As they travel to California, to the small town of Linda Mar (where Linda Martians live), Lauren receives more images about the missing girl. When the psychic pair volunteer to help with the search for the missing girl, they are reluctant to tell all, for fear of being labeled as 'persons of interest'. Really, who would believe the truth?

As one thing leads to another, a series of 'coincidences' leads them to bring closure to the case. Just when you thought that everything was over, Lauren has another surprise that is waiting for her to discover. One that will be life changing.

As in 'Streetlights', this book has it's share of twists and turns. Lauren and Jack come closer to cementing their blossoming relationship, and their pshchic abilities seem to be getting stronger.

This book is for a YA audience, but being in my 60s, I didn't feel that the author attempted to talk down to the reader, regardless of the purported audience. This is a fun, well thought out mystery with a psychic twist. The ending surprises and will keep the reader engaged throughout. I really enjoyed this story and am buying number three as I finish this review. I can't wait.

The Dragonfly Season Streetlights Like Fireworks Book 2 eBook David Pandolfe Reviews

Like the first book, this one was great. Told from Lauren's point of view, it makes this series fuller. Once again, the characters were strong, the editing spot on and even though wee know another book is coming, the ending was solid. Once again, great for adults and YA alike, it does have a few more S-Bombs than the first book. Still considering what's on the TV, much less Social Media, this book is tame but highly entertaining. The 3rd book is not available for yet (that I could find) but I think it is worth purchasing this series as a set and passing it along for others tho read with whom you don't trust with your . (I DO so hate a sticky !) Anyway, a great read which I highly recommend to everyone over the age of 14.
I began to read The Dragonfly Season with a mix of excitement and trepidation. I had just finished Streelights Like Fireworks and loved it so much that I had to download its sequel immediately, but when I saw it was written from Lauren’s POV, I confess to a few misgivings. Could Dave Pandolfe write convincingly from the female perspective? I needn’t have worried. He makes Lauren as believably clever, witty, kind, and delightfully mixed-up as he did Jack in the first book of the series. As good as the first, this second book will make every reader eager for more of the continuing life journey of Jack and Lauren. Personally, however, I am not a fan of thrillers, so while Streelights Like Fireworks was a joy to read from beginning to end, this book’s element of suspense made it harder for me to love it unreservedly—especially as a child and a puppy were involved in the suspense element. But I cannot fault the writing or the characterizations, and I heartily recommend Mr. Pandolfe as a master of both. Can’t wait for Book 3!
As Book 2 opens, we're surprised to find that a year has passed, and it's been a year of separation for Lauren and Jack. Why? I don't know about other readers, but I never got an answer to that question. By the end of the story, it seems like whatever the wall was that separated them has disappeared.

The ancient VW is still in the story. It's clear that it needs maintenance, but Lauren can't afford it. Nonetheless, it holds together through another adventure.

Surprisingly, neither Jack nor Lauren returned to Virginia. Jack, after a brief visit to Virginia, returned to Seattle to live with his mother and stepfather. Lauren dropped out of high school and stayed in Portland. These are not spoilers. This is the background from the early pages of the adventure.

This story is dictated by Lauren. As readers, we know Lauren and Jack as a couple. We know they belong together. Do they? One would get that impression by the end of the story. But of course, there's Book 3 and Book 4.

This is great writing and a fun story.
It only took reading one David Pandolfe book, "Streetlights Like Fireworks," for me to become a fan and request to be included on his mailing list. That is how I was I was graced with an advance copy of this book, "The Dragonfly Season," in exchange for an honest review. From the first, he had my attention with the book's cover and title.

Dragonfly can be read as a standalone. Pandolfe handles the backstory in an excellent manner so it doesn't drag the story down, but I would really suggest reading Streetlights Like Fireworks to understand the full story and the characters interactions. Anyway, it's a great book too and I love the title! He crafts his characters, Lauren and Jack, so well and places them in such intriguing situations that I would follow them through as many adventures as he is inspired to write. Pandolfe gives us a very interesting and real insight into the lives of people gifted with psychic abilities. We follow with Jack and Lauren as they learn about their gift. Or is it a curse? This is a great read and I recommend it highly.

Pandolfe's use of small touches make the characters and their adventures all the more endearing and worth holding a happy space in memory. Lauren and Jack's bantering and how their varying psychic abilities complement each other is masterful. The road trip personality of the old VW van is very accurate, having experienced it myself. I really enjoyed my time living in Lauren and Jack's world. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a sudden inexplicable urge to roast some marshmallows over a campfire.
